The Cambridge Lady Bears Fastpitch Softball team opens up its season Friday, August 9th against North Paulding in the Longhorn Invitational Tournament at East Cobb Field 8 with the first pitch at 6:00 p.m. The Lady Bears are looking forward to a great season. "The team is extremely young, but we have been working hard over the summer to prepare for this season," Coach Chip Flemmer stated.
Saturday August 10th finds the Lady Bears playing three more games in the Longhorn Invitational; 10 AM vs. Woodward (@ East Cobb Field 8), 4 PM vs. Alpharetta (@ East Cobb Field 8) and finally 8 PM vs. Sprayberry (@ Kell HS). Flemmer added, "We have some talented softball players, and we are going to set the bar high for what we can achieve in year two as a program. We are hoping for some great fan support and would love to have everyone come cheer us on!"
Next week, help kick off the school year with the first home athletic event of the season. The Cambridge Lady Bears Fastpitch Softball will battle North Cobb at Cambridge High School, Tuesday, August 13th.
Come support our varsity team as they play at 5:30 p.m., followed by our JV team who begins at 7:00 p.m. "I am looking forward to seeing the girls compete," Coach Flemmer stated. The JV girls are led by Coach Alex Thon who said,"It's outstanding how much young talent we've been blessed with this season. Not only will this help the varsity team, but it will benefit the development of our JV squad. Both teams should mirror one another, so it's great for everyone across the board."
