Congratulations to Coach Leigh Popp and the Girls Varsity tennis team for placing 5th out of 12 teams from across the southeast.  The Lady Bears participated in the DecoTurf High School Team Championships this past weekend, March 20-21st in Chattanooga TN. 

The first day finally got under way about 5:00 p.m., Friday, March, 20, after rain delays all morning. The CHS Bears defeated Hutchinson from TN right out the gate , winning 6-3, and had a hard fought second round battle against Baylor, also from TN, until 11:00 p.m. but came up short. 

The Lady Bears re-grouped and came out swinging in day two to defeat Ocean Springs from Mississippi, 9-0, and then defeating Girls Preparatory of Chattannoga, TN, 6-3, to win the Silver bracket and take home 5th place overall.

Thank you to all of the parents who made the trip and helped cheer these girls on match after match. The team could not have done it without your support!

Next up, the Lady Bears travel to Kell, Monday, March 23, at 4:00 p.m.

Be sure to come out Tuesday, March 24, at 4:00 p.m., to cheer on the girls who will host Marist.
