Lady Bears Tennis Team Excels in Year One

Lady Bears Tennis Team Excels in Year One

The Lady Bears lost a tough match Wednesday May 8th in the Semi-Finals of the state tournament at home to Starr's Mill, 3-0.  All 5 lines fought hard for the win but, in the end, the talented singles play from Starr's Mill prevailed.  Despite the disappointing loss, the Lady Bear's players and coach handled it with class under circumstances that were challenging at times.

The season, however, has been a tremendous success.  The young  team compiled a winning record of 18-4 while going undefeated in region play.  They were able to parlay their winning record in the season into a Region Championship Title.  Their seed in the state tournament afforded the Lady Bear home court in all of their matches with wins all the way to the final 4 teams in 7AAAAA in the state.

"What a great first season for Cambridge Tennis," says Varsity Coach Leigh Lynott.  "I am so proud of the way the girls handled themselves all season both on and off the court."

The Lady Bears will graduate one senior this year, and the outlook for Women's tennis at Cambridge in the coming years is very bright.  "It's been a special season with a special group of girls.  We will always remember our first season together," says Coach Lynott.

Congratulations to Coach Lynott and all of the women's varsity tennis team on an outstanding inaugural season!
