Bears Beat Walnut Grove | Next Stop Final 4

Convincing 5-0 Win Puts Cambridge in Semis

May 5, 2025 (Atlanta, GA) – For the fourth time in five years, the Lady Bears have made the state's Final 4.

Cambridge faced a tenacious Walnut Grove on Tuesday night.

Scoring almost got underway right away, as the Lady Bears managed to hit three crossbars in the first few minutes of play. From there, Walnut Grove clamped down, fighting for every loose ball and inexplicably winning every foul call.

However, the ref didn't ignore Walnut Grove taking down the diabolical Reed Tingley in the box with 17 minutes to play in the first half. The fantastic freshman buried her pk, giving the Lady Bears a 1-0 lead going into halftime.

The Lady Bears turned it on early in the second half. They scored 3 goals over a dominant three-minute stretch that cemented the game.

The aforementioned diabolical Tingley scored off an incredible through-ball from senior defender Sienna Solomonson. Maddie Ward pounced on a goalie deflection off a corner kick for a goal. Maddie Klingenspor had another all-around impressive game, tallying a goal and an assist. And Junior Zoe Graham iced the game late in the second half with her first playoff goal.

The Cambridge defense was once again stellar. The aforementioned Solomonson, along with Regan Tingley, Katie Coutu, and Peyton Tansy shut down any Walnut Grove attack before it became a big threat.

The few times Walnut Grove did break through, Anna Cate Servine showed up in a massive way. The junior goalie earned yet another clean sheet.

The rest of the Final 4 is set now as well. Cambridge will play at Marist on Thursday in what is sure to be an instant classic. On the other half of the bracket, Allatoona will play Blessed Trinity, who somehow keep winning games they shouldn't in pks or OT.

Come support your Lady Bears at Marist on Thursday!
