Comeback Kids: Lady Bears Beat Chamblee 6-3
Monday night at Chamblee was a microcosm of the season for the Lady Bears: some highs, some lows, and some steely determination. When the dust settled Monday night, the Lady Bears secured a 6-3 win over Chamblee High School.
But it wasn't easy.
The Lady Bears found themselves down 0-2 early and trailing 1-2 at the half. The lone first-half goal was scored by the diabolical Reed Tingley (with a stellar assist by sophomore Ellie Ward).
Freshman Tingley shined in the second half, scoring again and forcing an own goal off a cross. Meanwhile, Junior Maddie Klingenspor delivered an outstanding performance, netting two goals from perfectly timed headers and a third by tapping in a free kick deflection, marking her first hat trick of the season.
Assists came from her teammates Piper Preiss, Aspyn Stucke, and Kiki Mesa.
The Bears' defense eventually shut down Chamblee's offense, with standout contributions from Peyton Tansy, Sienna Solomonson, Katie Coutu, and Regan Tingley.
The win improves the Lady Bears to 5-3-0 for the season.
The Lady Bears hit the road this Friday for a rematch against Blessed Trinity.
