Lady Bears Top Pope 2-0
The Cambridge Lady Bears hosted Pope High School on Friday in a battle between two of Georgia's consistently top programs.
After a grueling victory against Westminster on Thursday, Coach Bunting heavily rotated her squad. Pope is known for their stout defense, and both sides struggled creating quality chances early.
The first half ended 0-0.
The second half was a different story.
Cambridge began finding opportunities. Finally, about midway through the second half, the diabolical Reed Tingley took a brilliant through ball from Sienna Solomonson to the house, putting the Lady Bears up 1-0.
A little later in the half, the fantastic freshman netted a brace after dispossessing a Pope defender.
As time was winding down, Anna Cate Servine made a ludicrous save off a rocket Pope shot to preserve a clean sheet. Cambridge earned a hard-fought 2-0 victory.
The win improves the Lady Bears' record to 4-2-0. Region play goes into full swing this week, with match-ups against Blessed Trinity (home Tuesday at 6pm) and Centennial (away Friday at 6pm).
