Cambridge JV Girl's Soccer Loses to Milton on Penalty Kick

Cambridge JV Girl's Soccer Loses to Milton on Penalty Kick

The Cambridge Lady Bears JV Soccer team played an evenly paired game against Milton, Monday, Feb. 29th at Eagle Stadium.

The Lady Eagles had a few shots on goal but nothing definitive during the first half. Lady Bears players Hannah Behner (#38) and Cat Powell (#32) had shots on goal at 10:00 minutes and 8:00 minutes but were stopped by the Milton goalie.  With 7:00 minutes, Isabella Godby (#28) barely missed a shot on goal on a direct kick set up by a hand ball. The 1st half ended with the score tied 0-0.

The Lady Eagles came out fighting in the 2nd half and the Lady Bears responded, keeping their defense very solid and offense knocking on the door to score.  With 5:00 minutes Milton executes a beautiful cross, but the shot was denied by Goalie Anna Johnson (#0).  With 15:00 minutes in, Lauren Pearson (#30) has a nice shot on goal, but barely misses.  With 10:00 left, a Milton player is unintentionally tripped inside the box to give Milton a shot on goal through penalty.  Milton scores on the penalty shot, although it's almost blocked by GK Anna Johnson. The Lady Bears had several opportuntities, but they couldn't convert to tie up the score.

Final score Milton wins 1-0. The Lady Bears were very strong and played very evenly against Milton. It will be a great rematch later on in the season, when Cambridge plays against Milton at home.

Next up, the Girl's JV team travels to Kell on Monday, March 14th.

Come out and support our Lady Bears!
