THE MARCH TO STATE CONTINUES - CAMBRIDGE BOYS WIN REGION TITLE - GIRLS FINISH THIRD
On Saturday, April 18, the Cambridge Bears hosted the all-important region meet. This region, and one other, is the smallest region in the state. Nevertheless, each of the other four teams are all formidable opponents and arrived ready to compete on this warm day. The format of the region meet allows the top eight to score for their team and the top four individuals and relays in each event to advance to the state sectionals on May 2.
The Cambridge Bears had worked hard and at the end of the meet, after a number of strong performances, earned a third place finish for the girls and a first place finish for the boys. In fact, this was the second consecutive region title for the boys.
Everyone that wore the singlet for Cambridge did the best they could that day and throughout the season. In addition, the parents and other volunteers were extremely helpful and appreciated by all in the performance of their various roles during each of the home meets. Thank you!
There were a number of noteworthy efforts by the athletes - from freshmen to seniors. Scoring for the Bears included:

Ella Alberici - won the 1600 meters; won the 3200 meters; and finished third in the 800 meters.
Kennedy Williams - finished third in the 100 meters (personal record) and third in the 200 meters.
Taylor Lasoff - won the long jump and finished third in the 300 meter hurdles.
Sylvia Pilling - finished third in the pole vault (personal record).
Karsen Williams - finished fourth in the high jump and eighth in the 100 meters.
Eleanor Bollenbacher - finished seventh in the 100 meter hurdles and seventh in the triple jump.
Wanita Ukoh - finished sixth in the 300 meter hurdles and eighth in the 100 meter hurdles
Linden Donner - finished fifth in the 400 meters.
Chelsea Winchester - finished eighth in the triple jump.
Penelope Pilling - finished seventh in discus.
Charlotte Brown - finished sixth in the high jump.
Vera Thorpe - finished seventh in the 1600 meters.
Sophia Ash - finished eighth in the 1600 meters.
Meg Carrizal - finished eighth in the 3200 meters.
All four of the relays advanced to the sectional meet for the girls.

Grant Campbell - won the high jump; won the long jump; and finished seventh in the 100 meters
Grey Donner - finished second in the 1600 meters; second in the 3200 meters; and sixth in the 800 meters.
Will Powell - finished fourth in the discus (personal record) and third in the shot put.
Mohamed Bangura - finished third in the high jump (personal record) and third in the triple jump.
Dakota Holt-Pledger - finished fourth in the high jump.
Andrew Bollenbacher - finished third in the pole vault.
Ian Kaltz - finished second in the shot put and eighth in the discus.
Christian Frasier - finished fourth in the long jump and fifth in the triple jump.

Corbin Phillips - finished second in the 200 meters.
