Track & Field Continues to Excel
CAMBRIDGE TRACK & FIELD CONTINUES PROGRESSING TOWARD STATE
 
in Georgia, during the month of March you find out a lot about the heart and desires of a track & field team to keep progressing toward the championship phase that occurs in April and May. The Cambridge team is showing they could be a special unit by the end of the season.
 
On Saturday, March 8, the Cambridge team went to compete at River Ridge High School. With 15 teams there, the Cambridge girls finished second and the boys finished fifth. The team managed to win a number of events, set personal bests and also set a school record.  A number of current school records also are in jeopardy of being broken in the upcoming weeks. A solid mix of veterans and newcomers are contributing to the team's success.
 
An overview of some of the outstanding performances from Saturday include the following:
 
Lilah Versluis - won the high jump (state leader 4A) and 100 meter hurdles 
 
Kai McCarley - won the 200 meters.(PR)
 
Ella Alberici - won the 3200 meters.
 
Taylor Lasoff - finished second in the 200 meters and seventh in the 100 meters.
 
Linden Donner - finished fifth in the 1600 meters.
 
Kennedy Williams - finished third in the 100 meters.
 
Hannah Jones - finished sixth in the long jump.
 
Francisco Palacios-Rodriguez - won the 1600 meters.(PR)
 
Grayson Peterson - won the 3200 meters. (PR)
 
Ibrahim Bangura - finished third in the 110 meter hurdles.
 
Mavric Gould - finished third in the 800 meters.
 
Grant Campbell - finished third in the high jump and set a new school record in the event.
 
Grey Donner - finished fourth in the 800 meters. (PR)
 
Mohamed Bangura - finished fourth in the triple jump.
 
Thomas Egan - finished fourth in the discus.
 
Aidan McHugh - finished fifth in the 1600 meters.
 
Rohan Lidhar - finished fifth in the triple jump.
 
The girls relay teams scored in the 4x800 meters (eight place); the 4x100 meters (second place and the sixth fastest in the history of the school); and winning the 4x200 meters (which was the second fastest time in the history of the school).
 
Next, the team goes to Roswell High School for the Roswell Rotary Relays on Saturday.
