CAMBRIDGE TRACK & FIELD OFF AND RUNNING
On February 22, the Cambridge track and field team went to North Gwinnett High School in Duluth, Georgia, for their first competition of the year against other schools. Facing nine other squads, the girls team finished second in their division and the boys finished third in their division.
The Bears were strong in a number of events, winning several and finishing in the top eight scoring in a number of others. With a good mix of veterans and newcomers, the team is off and running to achieve even more accomplishments as the season progresses. An overview of noteworthy performances from this meet include:
Kai McCarley - winning the 400 meters
Lilah Versluis - winning the long jump
Francisco Palacios-Rodriguez - winning the 1600 meters
Cameron Parodi - winning the 100 meters
Rohan Lidhar - winning the triple jump
Ella Alberici - finishing second in the 1600
Jensen Kelley - second in the 100 meters and third in the 200 meters
Kennedy Williams - third in the 100 meters and second in the 200 meters
Linden Donner - second in the 800 meters
Aidan McHugh - second in the 3200 meters
Thomas Egan - second in the discus (personal record)
Vera Thorpe - third in the 3200 meters
Craig Dandridge - third in the 100 meters
Ethan Umberger - third in the long jump (personal record)
Annabelle Luffel - fourth in the 3200 meters
Grey Donner - fourth in the 1600 meters
Mavric Gould - fourth in the 800 meters
Taylor Lasoff - fifth in the 100 meters
Leah Anderson - fifth in the 3200 meters
Tanav Prabhu - fifth in the 800 meters
Bailey Williams - sixth in the 100 meters and fifth in the 200 meters
Meili Bouton - seventh in the 800 meters
Lauren Tindle - eighth in the 1600 meters
Lauren Wildstein - eighth in the 800 meters
Additionally, the boys 4x400 meter relay finished second and the girls won both the 4x100 meter and 4x400 meter relays.
Next up on the schedule is a mid week small gathering at Creekview High School and a large meet at Milton High School on Saturday.
