Cambridge Boys take down Wesleyan and Buford; Girls top Buford

On Friday, the Bears traveled to Wesleyan to take on the home team and Buford. At the end of the night, 31 percent of the team improved their individual times.

In the first event of the night, the boys A-relay (John Murphy, Elijah Edison, Yan Berezitsky, Jax Jackson) took second with a state qualifying time of 1:53.00. The B-relay (Pranav Kolathaya, Aneesh Ayyagari, Tate Robertson, Shane Merrill) took fourth and the C-relay (James Kates, Campen Dawes, Avi Saxena, Caden Whalen) took sixth. 

The girls A-relay (Ana-Clare Grann, Caroline Gaijo, Audrey Lampa, Veronika Kolesnikov) took first, and the B-relay (Alexis Walkenhorst, Mihika Ayyagari, Leila Kader, Ella Fajen) took sixth. 

In the boys 200-freestyle, Jax Jackson clocked his first individual state cut in second place, after being out with an injury, with a time of 1:53.92. Tate Robertson took fourth, and Shane Merrill went a new personal best time in fifth. 

For the girls, Ana-Clare Grann touched in fourth with a new personal best time, Mihika Ayyagari took sixth, and Christine McVicker took seventh. 

In the boys 200-individual medley, John Murphy took second, Brian Guy took sixth, and Pranav Kolathaya took seventh. 

For the girls, Caroline Gaijo won the event followed by Veronika Kolesnikov in fourth. 

In the boys 50-freestyle, Yan Berezitsky and Bryce Mynatt tied to share third place, James Kates took ninth with a new best time, Aneesh Ayyagari took 10th with a new best time, Raj Malik took 12th, Campen Dawes took 14th, and Caden Whalen in 15th with a new best time. 

For the girls Leila Kader took eighth with a new best time, Ella Fajen took 16th, and Sela Guy took 18th with a new best time. 

The swimmers took a break and the divers took over. Josh Oblen had a solid performance to take second for the boys' competition, followed by teammate Jack Flores in third with a lot of improvement in his routine! On the girls' side, Brooklyn Petit took second, Lilah Versluis took third, and Taylor Eastman took sixth. All of the girls had great performances!

In the boys 100-butterfly, Bryson Mynatt went a new personal best time and took third, followed by Tom Berezitsky in fourth. 

For the girls, Audrey Lampa won the event with a time very close to her personal best, followed by Maya Berezitsky in fourth. 

In the boys 100-freestyle, Yan Berezitsky took third, Tate Robertson took fifth, Elijah Edison in sixth with a new best time, Aneesh Ayyagari in 11th with a new best time, Pranav Kolathaya in 12th with a new best time, Campen Dawes in 13th with a new best time, and Avi Saxena in 14th.

For the girls, Leila Kader took fifth with a new personal best time, Alexis Walkenhorst took eighth with a new best time, and Ella Fajen took 15th. 

In the boys 500-freestyle, Tom Berezitsky won the event, followed by James Kates in sixth, and Caden Whalen in eighth place. 

For the girls, Maya Berezitsky took second, followed by Veronika Kolesnikov in fourth, and Christine McVicker in seventh. 

In the 200-freestyle relay, the boys A-relay (Bryson Mynatt, Jax Jackson, Yan Berezitsky, Brian Guy) took second, followed by the B-relay (Shane Merrill, Tate Robertson, Aneesh Ayyagari, Tom Berezitsky) in fourth and the C-relay (Campen Dawes, Raj Malik, Cade Whalen, Avi Saxena) in fifth. 

In the girls relay, the A-relay (Ana-Clare Grann, Caroline Gaijo, Audrey Lampa, Veronika Kolesnikov) took third, followed by the B-relay (Maya Berezitsky, Sela Guy, Christine McVicker, Sydney Edison) took seventh. 

In the boys 100-backstroke, the Bears went one and two at the finish! John Murphy won the event, followed by Jax Jackson in second, followed by Brian Guy in sixth. 

The girls topped the backstroke event also with Audrey Lampa touching in first, followed by Alexis Walkenhorst in fourth with a new best time and Sydney Edison in fifth. 

In the boys 100-breaststroke, Elijah Edison took second with a new personal best time, followed by Shane Merrill in fifth, and Raj Malik in seventh. 

For the girls, Caroline Gaijo took second, followed by Mihika Ayyagari in fifth, and Ana-Clare Grann with a new best time in seventh. 

For the last event of the night, the boys A and B relays were disqualified due to early take-offs. Even with the last event scoring no points, the boys walked away with the overall win. 

For the girls, The A-relay (Alexis Walkenhorst, Maya Berezitsky, Mihika Ayyagari, Leila Kader) took second, followed by the B-relay (Sydney Edison, Christine McVicker, Ella Fajen, Sela Guy) took sixth. 

The Bears will travel to Region Championships on Saturday at Marist. Swimming prelims will begin at 9:30 AM with diving following immediately after around noon. Swim finals will begin at 6:00 PM. Come and cheer on your Bears team!
