Cambridge Sweeps Dawson County and Creekview in Trimeet
On Friday, Cambridge faced off against Creekview and Dawson County at Cherokee Aquatic Center. The Bears walked away with a full sweep of girls, boys and combined score at the end of the night, also adding 17 new state qualifying times and 15 new best times!

The meet kicked off with the boys medley relay. The A-relay (Tayne Naude, Gavin Schoeling, Oscar Ryzhkov, John Murphy) swam a state qualifying time of 1:47.09 and took first place. The B-relay (Pranav Kolathaya, Aneesh Ayyagari, Campen Dawes, James Kates) took third.
The girls copy and pasted the same results! The A-relay (Molly Melchiors, Caroline Gaines, Jennifer Griner, Amber Naude) took first with a state qualifying time of 1:59.54, followed by the B-relay in third (Alexis Walkenhorst, Sydney Edison, Leila Kader, Mihika Ayyagari) and the C-relay (Christine McVicker, Veronika Kolesnikov, Ella Fajen, Sela Guy) in sixth.
In the boys 200-freestyle, Oscar Ryzhkov continued to chip away at his state agenda with another qualifying swim of 1:51.95, which is a personal best, and earned the win for the event. Aneesh Ayyagari also swam a personal best time in the event and took third. Raj Malik took fourth and Campen Dawes took fifth.
For the girls, Caroline Gaines also added to her state agenda with a first place finish in 2:06.07. Alexis Walkenhorst took third with a new best time, and Sela Guy took fourth.
In the boys 200-individual medley, Tayne Naude earned his third state qualifying swim with a first place finish in 2:10.53. John Murphy followed in second, Elijah Edison swam a new personal best to take third, and Tate Robertson took fourth.
In the girls event, Jennifer Griner won the event with her third state qualifying individual event and a time of 2:12.96. Molly Melchiors took third, Audrey Lampa took fifth, and Ana-Clare Grann took sixth.
In the boys 50-freestyle, Bryson Mynatt had a great swim to touch the wall in a new best time of 24.04, which earned him second place. Brian Guy swam a new best time and took fourth, James Kates took seventh, and Caden Whalen took 10th.
In the girls event, Alana Drevet took fifth, Alexis Walkenhorst took sixth, Mikhika Ayyagari took seventh, and Christine McVicker took 12th.
In the boys 100-butterfly, John Murphy took second, Raj Malik had a huge time drop to take fourth, and Campen Dawes took fifth.
For the girls, Amber Naude won the event with a state qualifying time of 1:00.58, followed by Leila Kader in fourth, Sydney Edison in fifth, and Veronika Kolesnikov in sixth.
In the boys 100-freestyle, Tayne Naude swam a state qualifying time of 51.96 and easily took first. Brian Guy took fourth, and Caden Whalen swam a new best time to take seventh.
In the girls event, Amber Naude won her second event of the night by swimming a state qualifying time of 53.53. Caroline Gaijo took second, and Sela Guy took 15th.
In the boys 500-freestyle, Cambridge swept it clean! Gain Schoeling easily took first by over a full minute with a state qualifying time of 5:03.30. Tate Robertson took second with a new personal best time and Bryson Mynatt took third.
Jennifer Griner clocked the winning time in the girls event with a state qualifying swim of 5:13.41. Leila Kader took fourth and Sydney Edison took fifth.
In the boys 200-freestyle relay, the boys A-relay (Tayne Naude, Oscar Ryzhkov, Gavin Schoeling, John Murphy) took first easily with a time of 1:34.11. The B-relay (Bryson Mynatt, Brian Guy, Elijah Edison, Tate Robertson) took second.
For the girls, the A-relay (Amber Naude, Caroline Gaines, Jennifer Griner, Molly Melchiors) took first with a state qualifying time of 1:44.96. The B-relay (Audrey Lampa, Caroline Gaijo, Ana-Clare Grann, Alana Drevet) took third and the C-relay (Christine McVicker, Sela Guy, Sydney Edison, Ella Fajen) took sixth.
In the boys 100-backstroke, Oscar Ryzhkov qualified in another event by finishing in first with a time of 57.99, a personal best swim. Pranav Kolathaya took fourth with a new best time, and James Kates took sixth.
For the girls, Audrey Lampa swam a new best time to take second overall, followed by Molly Melchiors in third, Ana-Clare Grann in fourth, Ella Fajen in sixth, and Christine McVicker in seventh with a new best time.
In the boys 100-breaststroke, Gavin Schoeling swam a state qualifying new best time of 1:03.34, which also earned him the win for the event. Elijah Edison took second, and Pranav Kolathaya took fifth with a new best time.
In the girls event, Caroline Gaines won the event with a state qualifying time of 1:12.04, and was followed immediately by teammate Alana Drevet, who also finished with a state qualifying time. Caroline Gaijo took third, Mihika Ayyagari took fifth with a new best time, and Ella Fajen took 13th.
In the final event of the night, the boys A-relay in the 400-freestyle relay (Bryson Mynatt, Tate Robertson, Elijah Edison, Brian Guy) took second, followed by the B-relay (Raj Malik, Pranav Kolathaya, Aneesh Ayyagari, Caden Whalen) took third.

The Bears will travel to West Gwinnett Aquatic Center on Friday to face off against North Gwinnett and Lassiter for the 7:20 PM start to the meet! Divers will join the swimmers for this first combined swim and dive meet of the season. Come and cheer on your Bears!
