EARLY BIRD DIVE INVITATIONAL AT MARIST 11/2

Diver Brooklyn Petit Claims Early Bird Champion Title for the Third Year

On November 2nd, Cambridge's six-member diving squad competed at Marist in the annual Early Bird Dive Invitational. With a brand new squad on the boys' roster and an addition to the girls roster, the Bears had a great day of competition!

Brooklyn Petit's talent was no surprise to the judges that are familiar with her level of competition. With multiple dives earning very high scores, Petit easily took the championship medal for another year. Teammate Lilah Versluis took a break from her track training to come back to compete for diving again this year. Versluis started off the year incredibly strong with a new personal best score and also joined Petit to qualify for state in the first meet of the season. The girls team welcomed new diver, junior Taylor Eastman. Eastman took 10th in the overall competition and translated her athletic skill to the new sport beautifully. Eastman is on track to join the other girls at state in February.

On the boys' side, the team welcomes three seniors to the roster. Football player Josh Oblen earned fifth place overall in his first dive meet of his career. Following in his brother's steps from his time on the dive team, Oblen is poised to have a state qualifying routine shortly into the season. Oblen was joined by teammates Jack Flores and Carter Solomon. Both had great performances for their first competition. Flores and Solomon completed all of their dives and took eighth and 12th place respectively.

We are so proud of our divers and look forward to the rest of their season! They will join the swimmers at West Gwinnett Aquatic Center on the 15th to face off against Lassier and North Gwinnett.
