The Cambridge JV Softball Team started the 2015 season in full force winning 3 out of their first 3 games, including wins against Milton, Kell, and Roswell. The game against Central Forsyth got rained out after only completing 1.5 innings with the Bears down 6-3.
Cambridge JV vs. Milton Wed. August 12th
First week of the season Cambridge shut out Milton (non-region game) 9-0 Wednesday, August 12th, with Genevieve Dumas the winning pitcher for Cambridge, alongside with Alex Seymour stepping on the mound in the 3rd inning. Together between both pitchers they gave up no earned runs with 7 hits.
Cambridge jumped out to an early lead scoring 7 of their runs in the first 3 innings, including a home run by Audrey Smith, and hits by Anna Allen, Daisy Valeo, Samantha Costanzo, Lauren Vetrano, and Haley Brown.
Cambridge JV vs. Kell Thurs. August 13th
Cambridge JV played in a tournament this past weekend at Fowler Park winning 3 out of 4 games.
Cambridge JV vs. Collins Hill Sat. August 21st - Fowler Park Tournament
In the tournament at Fowler Park, the Bears defeated Collins Hills 6-3. The top of the first saw the Bears take an early lead, 1-0. A single by Brown brought home McLain who walked starting off the first inning. McLain went 1-2 with a single in the sixth inning.
Collins Hills quickly matched the Bear's strong inning with a one-run inning of its own in the first. Collins Hills scored on a sacrifice fly.
The game's last lead went to the Bears thanks to a second inning rally that saw three runs cross the plate on a fielder's choice and an RBI single by Vetrano. Also with hits in the game were L Allen, Dumas, Seymour, and A Smith. Dumas took the win with only 2 earned runs and 3 hits.
Cambridge JV vs. Collins Hill Sat. August 21st - Fowler Park Tournament
The Bears then beat Lambert 15-1 in four innings after an eight-run explosion in the fourth inning. The Bears scored in the fourth on an error, a groundout by Vexie, an error, an RBI single by Seymour, a two-run double by A Smith, and a two-run double by Vetrano. D Valeo went a perfect 2-2 at the plate for the Bears. She singled in the first and second innings.
The Bears didn't relinquish the lead after scoring one run in the first inning when they scored on an RBI single by Valeo. The Bears tacked on another three runs in the third. McLain singled, bringing home L Allen to start the inning. That was followed up by Brown's single, plating Herbold. Alex Seymour took the win on the mound giving up one earned run and 6 hits.
Cambridge JV vs. Collins Hill Sat. August 21st - Fowler Park Tournament
The Bears rack up their 3rd win in the tournament beating Brookwood 11-0 in five innngs. The Bears scored five runs in the fifth on an RBI single by McLain, a two-run single by Haley Brown, a groundout by Seymour, and a passed ball.
McLain boosted her batting average thanks to a perfect 3-3 day at the plate to pace the Bears. The Bears never surrendered the lead after the first inning, scoring two runs on a two-run single by Daisy Valeo. Also with hits was L Allen, Dumas, Seymour, and Smith. Genevieve Dumas took the win for the shut out giving up only 6 runs.
Cambridge JV vs. Collins Hill Sat. August 21st - Fowler Park Tournament
The JV Bears only loss was 4-0 against West Forsyth. The Bears 2 hits of the game were from Abigail McLain and Luci Allen. Alex Seymour was in command on the mound only giving up 3 Earned runs with 9 hits.
Cambridge JV vs. Roswell Wed. August 26th
The Bears jumped out to an early lead on Roswell and captured an 10-0 victory Wednesday, August 26th at CHS.
The game was decided quickly as the Bears scored 7 runs in the first three innings. A single by Daisy Valeo during the first inning and a two-run double by Luci Allen, an RBI single by Valeo, and a sacrifice fly by H. Brown in the second inning fueled the offense early. Luci Allen racked up three RBIs on one hit for the Bears, D Valeo got two hits and an RBI, and A Allen, Mclain, H Brown, and A Smith all got a hit in the game.
A Allen, Seymour, Dumas, and Allmen all pitched allowing no earned runs and only 1 hit the last inning of the game to take the 10-0 win!
