Cambridge vs. Riverwood Tuesday, September 16
The Lady Bears Fastpitch Softball team enjoyed another region win, after shutting out Riverwood. The Bears scored 17 runs in 4 innings. The team started things off with hits from Lauren Stewart and Courtney Campbell, along with walks to take the lead 5-0 in the top of the 1st inning.
During the 3rd and 4th innings, hits came from Abigail Wilson, Savannah Dixon, Bela Bravo, Mariah Kubik, Becca Claypool, Taylor Greene, Lindsey "Z" Smith, Amanda Chernick, Taylor Hauber, Jensen Cheshire, Heather Kipniss, and Courtney Campbell, scoring 12 more runs to make it 17-0.
Riverwood could not get any offense going against pitchers Keara Napoli and Courtney Campbell, and the solid Bears defense helped shut the game down, as the Lady Bears rolled to another shutout victory.
Cambridge vs. Roswell Wednesday, September 17
The Bears hit the road, September 17, to take on the Roswell Hornets and finished with a run rule in the 5th inning, winning 12-2.
The bats got going in the 2nd and 3rd innings as the Lady Bears put 8 on the board. Hits from Courtney Campbell, Savannah Dixon, Mariah Kubik, Lauren Stewart, followed up by a towering, beautiful home run by Taylor Greene, gave the Bears the huge lead.
With solid pitching and the stellar defense, the Bears held Roswell to only 2 runs as the game went to the bottom of 3rd.
The Lady Bears were relentless and scored 4 more runs with hits from Becca Claypool, Courtney Campbell, Abigail Wilson, Bela Bravo and Jensen Cheshire. The Lady Bears posted another solid win, 12-2.
Cambridge vs. Sprayberry Thursday, September 18
On Thursday night, the Bears welcomed another region opponent, as the Sprayberry Yellow Jackets came to play in what was the second meeting this season.
The game remained scoreless until the 4th inning. That was when Keara Napoli, Courtney Campbell, and Savannah Dixon all stepped up with big hits, and scored 2 runs. Pitcher Keara Napoli held the Hornets to only one hit, while the Lady Bears brought in another 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th, following hits from Keara Napoli, Abigail Wilson, and Savannah Dixon.
The Lady Bears went on to a 4-0 victory and another region win.
The team is undefeated in region play and will play the last two region opponents this week. Be sure to come out tomorrow, Tuesday, September 23, at 5:55 p.m. for the first pitch as the Lady Bears host North Springs. Cambridge will travel to Kennesaw Mountain, Wednesday, September 24, at 5:30 p.m. They finish out the regular season at North Atlanta at 5:55 p.m., Thursday, September 25.
