Game #1  Forsyth Central High School  Won 13-1  August 12, 2014

The Cambridge Bears Varsity softball team has had a very strong start of the season winning their first three games last week. 

On Tuesday August 12th they played their season opener on the road at Forsyth Central High School.  Last year they lost to this team in ITB but this year was quite different winning with a score of 13-1. 

Early in the game the bears Lauren Stewart, gets a single and Lily Valeo hits a double bringing in 2 runs.  The same inning Courtney Campbell gets an RBI to help the Bears lead 3-0.   The Dogs struggled on offense against pitcher Keara Napoli who had 7 strikeouts in the first three innings. The Bears had another two runs put on the board in the second inning with hits from Lauren Stewart, and Lily Valeo and Courtney Campbell. 

Finishing up in the 4th inning the Bears put up 8 runs with a couple of walks and hits from Lily Valeo, Keara Napoli, Diggy Dixon, Taylor Hauber, and Abigail Wilson.  In the bottom of the 4th Keara Napoli had two more strikeouts giving up only two hits resulting in one run ending the game in a run rule with a final score of 13-1.


Game #2 Milton High School at Cambridge Won 2-0  August 13, 2014

On Wednesday August, 13th the Cambridge Bears had their first home game against the Milton Eagles. 

With a larger crowd cheering them on (the Bears football team came out) the atmosphere was awesome. The game remained scoreless until the 3rd inning when Freshman Taylor Greene hit a shot to left field getting a triple and Lily Valeo hitting a single to bring Taylor in.  Bears continued strong on defense with a several plays being made by Lily Valeo at Shortstop and Courtney Campbell at 1st. 

Pitcher Keara Napoli had 6 strikeouts with one hit in the 4th inning but offense was able to make all three outs, with a pop out caught by Bela Bravo, and ground outs made by Lily Valeo and Diggy Dixon to Courtney Campbell at 1st.  In the bottom of 5th Keara Napoli hit a double, and Diggy Dixon gets a single moving pinch runner Becca Cleypool to 3rd and Abigail hits another single bringing in Becca to score. 

Bottom of 6 the score is 2-0 Bears finishing the game with another two strikeouts and another great defensive play by Lily Valeo to Courtney Campbell the game ends with the Bears winning 2-0.


Game #3 Kell High School at Cambridge Won 9-5  August 14, 2014

After two solid wins the Bears hosted Kell on Thursday night August 14th with the momentum continuing. 

With the Bears hitting in the first inning with a single made by Taylor Green, Keara Napoli and Courtney Campbell and a double by Abigail Wilson the score was a quick 3-0. Pitcher Keara Napoli had 7 strikeouts in the first three innings for Kell with defensive plays also made by Courtney Campbell, Taylor Green and Becca Cleypool. 

In the 3rd inning for the Bears solid hits by Courtney Campbell, Abigail Wilson, Diggy Dixon, and Taylor Hauber they scored another two runs bringing the score to 5-0. Kell came on strong in the 5th inning with 5 hits against pitcher Keara Napoli and allowing 3 runs on the board.  But the Bears offense came right back to answer with Lauren Stewart who gets around the bases to score on two over throws made by the Kell defense. On another hit and an error by the Kell defense Taylor Greene gets to third base and Keara Napoli comes up hitting a single.  With a walk by Abigail Wilson and and a few more errors by Kell's defense the Bears brought in 4 more runs to top the score off at 9-5. 

Closing out the inning on plays made by third base player, Taylor Greene the Bears hang on to win their second home game.
