Cambridge Fastpitch Loses Heartbreaker to Pope in Region Tournament

Cambridge Fastpitch Loses Heartbreaker to Pope in Region Tournament

Cambridge vs Pope - Thursday, Oct. 10th

Perhaps the best game thus far in the Regional 7AAAAA Fast Pitch tournament was played on Thursday night October 10th at the Al Bishop Softball Complex.

After a very hard fought scoreless battle for 6 1/2 innings, the Pope Lady Greyhounds managed to break the 0-0 tie on a couple of unforced errors by the Lady Bears to win 1-0.  This game was truly a pitching battle between our Keara Napoli and Pope's Kelly Barnhill.   Between these two great pitchers, there were 25 strikeouts, and only 1 hit allowed, which Lauren Stewart managed on a bunt in the Top of the 4th inning.  Other than that, it was a nail biter all the way to the Bottom of the 6th when the Lady Bears committed 2 errors allowing the Lady Greyhounds to score.

This was a fantastic outing on behalf of both teams.

The Lady Bears will play the Forsyth Central Bulldogs tonight, Friday October 11th at 5:30pm in what is touted to be another close game.

In other tournament action, Sprayberry defeated Northview in the early game as did Forsyth Central defeating Kell.  Sprayberry and Forsyth Central squared off in the late game, which Forsyth Central took thus advancing to play Cambridge tonight.  The winner of this game will play Pope in the late game.
Go Bears!!
