Cambridge vs Riverwood Raiders (1st Round - 10/8)

The state 7AAAAA Regional Fastpitch Tournament is underway at the Al Bishop Softball Complex in Marietta, GA.  

As the #4 seed, our Lady Bears were matched up against the Riverwood Raiders in round 1 on Tuesday Oct. 8th, and our girls came ready to play.  Lead by a nearly perfect game on the mound, Keara Napoli pitched a no-hitter with only 1 walk to lead the Lady Bears to an 8-0 shutout.  The bats were also hot for the Bears as senior Maria Lay laid down the perfect suicide squeeze bunt in the 2nd inning to score Lauren Stewart.  

But then in the bottom of the 4th, Maria took the long ball over the left field fence for her 1st Homerun of the season.  Courtney Campbell also had a hot bat on the night.  She took a shot all the way the right center field fence on her first at bat for what appeared to be a Homerun, however, it was ruled a fence obstruction double.  She produced another double in the 5th inning with another deep shot to left field.  Lauren Stewart's bat produced a 3 run RBI in the 2nd with a line drive to right field.  The Bears defense was just just too much for the Raiders.  The Bear move on to play Northview in Round 2 of the tournament.

Cambridge vs Northview Titans (2nd Round - 10/9)

The Lady Bears survived a late game scare by the Northview Titans, but held on to defeat the Titans 5-4 in Round 2 of the Regional 7AAAAA Tournament Wednesday, Oct. 9th.

The Bears got out of the blocks quickly by putting up 4 runs in the 1st inning.  Keara Napoli's RBI single, and Savannah Dixon's double advanced base runners to set up one of Courtney Campbell's 3 RBI singles early in the game.  Keara Napoli was 4 for 4 at the plate, and Savannah Dixon 3 for 3 including a sacrifice bunt in the bottom of the 4th to advance to advance Amanda Chernick to 2nd. Base hits from Bella Bravo and Mariah Kubik contributed to the offense for the Lady Bears.  The Titans fought back in the Top of the 5th with some offense of their own producing 4 runs, but they would come up short in this contest.  

The win advances the Lady Bears to the 3rd round of the tournament.  They will face the only other undefeated team, Pope High School, in what promises to be a very exciting game, Thursday Oct. 10th at 7:30pm.

Still alive in the Losers Bracket, Northview will be matched up against Sprayberry, and Kell against Forsyth Central, in hopes of another shot at The Lady Bears or the Pope Lady Greyhounds pending tonight's winner.
