In a close quarter-final match, the Cambridge Boys tennis team closed out Riverwood 3-2 on Thursday, April 30th at Cambridge.
The Cambridge Bears won both lines of doubles with Zac Hirschler and Kez Fitzgerald at line 1 and David Ashcom and Brenner Lapid at line 2. Both of the matches went two sets.
On the singles side of the ledger, Drew Fruehauf continued his string of quality playing with a 2 set victory over his opponent. Carson Harrell and Joey Ladaga battled tough opponents but fell in 2 and 3 sets respectively after the match had been closed out.
The Bears will now advance to the GHSA State Semi-Finals against Starr's Mill HS next Monday, May 4th at 4pm. Cambridge looks to avenge a defeat earlier in the year to Starr's Mill at the Deco-Turf Tennis tournament in Tennessee and will now have home court advantage.
