Cambridge Men's Tennis Team Finish Outstanding Inaugural Season

Cambridge Men's Tennis Team Finish Outstanding Inaugural Season

The Cambridge Men's Tennis team dropped a close match in the quarterfinals of the State High School playoffs on Thursday afternoon May 2nd to the Allatoona Bucs, 3-1.

The Bears singles lines, Michael Feirer & David Ashcom, and 1 doubles line of Brener Lapid and Zac Hirschler fought hard but came up short against a talented Bucs team.  Grant Hollingsworth and Kez Fitzgerald played outstanding and won their match in two close sets.

Despite the loss, the 2013 season has been a success for the first year program.  The Bears were winners in all but 2 of their region matches during the regular season.  Cambridge placed 2nd in the Region playoffs, which enabled the team to compete in the state playoffs.  The Bears registered a win at home in the first round vs Lakeside and another victory away against the Falcons of Flowery Branch before falling to Allatoona High School in the Quarterfinal match.

"The young program has tremendous promise and upside in the coming years", says Varsity Head Coach Chris Feldman.  He told his team: "Thank you for a great season.  We went far beyond many expectations and had a great first season for CHS.  You all were a pleasure to coach, I really enjoyed both practices and matches and getting to know all of you better."

The future looks bright for the Cambridge tennis program .  Members of the 2013 team are as follows:
