Both Cambridge tennis programs are hitting big and hoping to score region titles today. Each team won two matches on the opening day of region playoffs Tuesday, April 16. Those wins put both programs in contention for the region tennis title and ensure them a spot in the state playoffs.
The Lady Bears extended their excellent play of the regular
season into the playoff rounds with a win over Kell in the morning
and a victory over Pope Tuesday afternoon. With the wins, the
Lady Bears play for the Region title on Wednesday morning against
an opponent to be determined.
The Men's team closed out Riverwood in the morning and avenged a loss during the regular season with a thrilling victory over Pope in the afternoon. After winning both doubles lines against Pope, Michael Fierer pulled out the 3rd set tie breaker win to send the Bears to the region championship game on Wednesday morning.
