The Cambridge Varsity Boys Golf Team will attempt to defend its 2015 State Championship on Monday, May 16th at Bartram Trail Golf Course located just outside of Augusta, GA. This year's team has had much success, winning four tournaments (North South Ryder Cup, TaylorMade Invitational, Cambridge Cup and the State Sectional) and finishing second four times (Big Red Shootout, Grizzly Classic, North Georgia HS Invitational and the Region Championship).
The team has had great performances throughout the course of the season including; Junior Brad Plaziak and Senior Sutton Dunwoodie both shot one under par 70's at the State Sectional, Sophomore Andrew Ackerman's one under par 71 at the TaylorMade Invitational, Freshman Jack Vajda won low medalist honors with an even par 72 at the Grizzly Classic, Senior Austin Redick had a 74 at the Region Championship and Junior Robbie Bentley shot 75 at the Big Red Shootout.
"Assistant Coach Bob Bordas and myself are very proud of this team and its accomplishments. We have a very deep and talented team and that's what it takes to win a State Title" said Head Coach Peter Vajda. The team returns five players from last year's State Title winning team with freshman Jack Vajda the only new face.
