Cambridge Boy's Golfers Wrap up Busy Week with 5 Tournaments
Bentwater Invitational - Saturday, 3/15/14
Bentwater Country Club 

Twelve members of boys golf team participated in the Bentwater Invitational on Saturday, March 15th.

The split squad finished 6th and 8th respectively in the 22 team event. The Bears were led by Junior Ryan Stachler 77, and sophomore Austin Redick 77, both finished in the top 10 individually.

Other key performances were turned by sophomore Robert Berman 79, and Senior Leland Dunwoodie 80. 

Also participating for the Bears...Seniors Justin Beard, Evan Goldfuss and Chris Meyer, Sophomores Sutton Dunwoodie and AJ Klabnik, Freshmen Brad Plaziak, Robbie Bentley, and Matthew Leemann.

 


 

Cambridge vs. Lambert - Tuesday, 3/18/14
Laurel Springs Country Club 

The boys golf team played Lambert High School in a 9-hole match at Laurel Springs Golf Club on Tuesday, March 18th.  

The weather was a factor as windy blustery conditions prevailed and it turned out to be a difficult day for scoring.  Lambert won the match, 152 to 158.  

Junior and South Carolina commit Ryan Stachler led the Bears with a 1 under par 35, followed by Senior Chris Meyer 40, Sophomore Sutton Dunwoodie 41, and Senior Leland Dunwoodie 42.  Senior Justin Beard and Sophomore Austin Redick also contributed to the team effort.

 



Cambridge vs. Blessed Trinity - Thursday, 3/20/14
Brookfield Country Club

The Bears junior varsity boy's golf team traveled to Brookfield Country Club in Roswell Thursday March 20th and promptly coasted to a 154-183 victory over Blessed Trinity. 

Sophomore Sutton Dunwoodie paced Cambridge with a 37.  Four over after the first three holes, Dunwoodie rallied to shoot par or better over the final six holes.  Freshman Matthew Leemann recorded a pair of birdies on his way to a three-over 38 and Dunwoodie's playing partner, Robert Berman followed with a 39. 

Freshman Robbie Bentley posted a 40 and sophomores Brad Plaziak and AJ Klabnik came in at 42 and 43, respectively. 




 

Kell Golf Classic - Saturday, 3/22/14
Eagle Watch Golf Club

Freshman Robbie Bentley shot 77  to tie for fourth among individuals and the Cambridge boy's golf team placed 6th in a field of 12 Saturday March 22nd at the Kell Golf Classic at Eagle Watch in Woodstock. 

Bentley's 77 was only three strokes off the leader's pace.  Freshman Matt Leemann (80) and sophomores Robert Berman (83) and A.J. Klabnik (89) joined Bentley in scoring a 329 for the Bears.   Seniors Justin Beard and Evan Goldfuss also contributed to the team effort.

 


 

Georgia/South Carolina Cup  - Fri/Sat.  3/21/-3/22/14
Willow Creek Country Club

The Cambridge boys golf team participated in the Georgia vs South Carolina Cup on Friday and Saturday March 21/22 at Willow Creek Country Club in Greer, SC.

The GA/SC Cup pits eight teams from GA vs eight teams from SC over two days. The low 12 players from each state make up the team score.

Junior Ryan Stachler led the Bears with a 77-72 performance garnering all-tourney team honors. Sophomore Austin Redick shot 75-80 to also help Team GA.

SC edged team GA by 12 shots to capture the Cup.

Other Bears participating included; Senior Chris Meyer 84-80, Sophomore Sutton Dunwoodie 84-86 and Freshman Brad Plaziak 88-84. The team finished 6th overall in the sixteen team field.
