Cambridge Hoops Tips off at Home, Friday, November 13

Cambridge Basketball is here, and action gets underway Friday night, November 13th.  You will want to get to the gym early, as the Lady Bears tip off at 6:00 p.m, followed by the Boys Varsity at 7:30 p.m.  Both varsity teams will take on the Knights of Johnson-Gainesville.

The girls' varsity basketball team is led by head coach Lesley Broadwell and assistant coach Pam Masinko.  "We are so excited to get into our early season games. Our returning players have worked hard in the off season, and we have added some new faces to our program that we are excited about as well.  We need these early games to develop chemistry and solidify roles and just see what we need to work on, so that once region games begin, we are ready," says Broadwell.

This should be an exciting year for the Lady Bears, who will be sporting new uniforms tonight.

The boys' varsity team will take to the court, also in new uniforms.  That's not the only thing that will look different this season.  Head coach Chip Flemmer says this will be a whole new roster.  "There is a lot of excitement and anticipation for the season to get under way," says Flemmer.  The Bears are led by their only senior, Scot Gustafson.  "Gustafson's leadership is the perfect style for our young roster.  The players admire him for his work ethic, and he holds everyone accountable which is what you want in your team captain,"  Flemmer said.

Returning from varsity action last season will be junior guards Jackson Boyea, Zack Leffler and Ryan Kulaga, sophomore post Kyler Ingram and sophomore guard J.M. Ezell.  There are several new faces to the program including juniors Luke Freiburg and Joshua Leonce, sophomore transfers Noah Lucas (Frisco, TX) and Caleb Snyder (Geneva, IL), along with 9th graders David Banks and Kamar Robertson.

The roster is young and exciting.  "I would highly recommend that you come watch us play this season!  It will be a fun, high-energy style of basketball that you will want to see," Coach Flemmer added.

We'll see you tonight in the Cambridge gym.   6:00 p.m is game time.

Go Bears!!
