Bear fans, on Saturday August 22nd, our Bears took on the Holy Innocents Golden Bears at Riverwood H.S. stadium in a non-league game. The Bears dominated the game and won by a score of 41-0. The victory was a good start to the season for the Bears who now stand with a 1-0 record.
Cambridge racked up 457 all-purpose yards that included 185 yards passing by quarterback Cameron Moore (109 for Spencer Gaddis and 44 for JD White), 206 rushing (86 for Kaelin Byrd, 57 for Lavantay McColley and 50 for J.D. White). J.D. also added another 43 yards in punt returns.
A host of Bear defenders combined for over 30 tackles that included 2 combined sacks led by Chase Darnell, Will Britain and Trey Wolfe. Michael Pellegrino caused a fumble which was recovered by Jordan Evans and Alec Kramer chipped in with an interception return of 19 yards.
Strong offensive and defensive line play contributed to the excellent play on both sides of the ball. Six offensive touchdowns and 5 of 6 PATs by Victor Valentine wrapped up the scoring on the night.
Next up for the Bears will be the visiting Chapel Hill H.S. Panthers in another non-league game at Bear Stadium Friday night 8/28 at 7:30 PM.
