The Cambridge Smurf squad was back en force, showing tons of enthusiasm for their team and getting the crowd involved along with the cheerleaders.
The football players looked a little rusty in their first outing. New faces showed signs of inexperience but it was a scrimmage and nothing more, so the takeaway was for coaches and players to get the rust out and look at things in a live play situation.
Quarterback Brian Moore under pressure made a nice pass to connect with receiver JD White who ran the ball 70 yards for a touchdown. This play was the highlight of the scrimmage and gave insight to the potential that lies in the 2014-15 Bears lineup.
Cambridge Bears start the season Friday, August 22 at home against the AA, non-region, Holy Innocents Golden Bears from Atlanta. Holy Innocents has a roster of 45 and last year went 7-5 overall.
Game time is 7:30pm.
