Bears Cross Country Teams Post Best Finishes at Fulton County Championship, Saturday, Sept. 16th

On Saturday, September 16th at the Fulton County Championship hosted by Milton High School, the Cambridge Bears Cross Country team was a strong contender on one of the hardest cross country courses in Georgia.

The Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls teams both finished 2nd, the best finish for these teams in the 6 years of competing at this meet.  Jack Filan led the Varsity boys and finished sixth place overall with a time of 17:36.  Zach Ellison (11th)—who ran the race despite losing a shoe in the first 10 meters!, Anders Law (12th), Chris Anderson (14th), Carson Ertwine (16th), Josh Gargan (18th) and Mark Van De Water (22nd) were also on this team of 7 Varsity runners.

Ashley Sechrest's 4th place finish, the best performance for a Cambridge varsity girl at County, with her time of 21:26, led the way for the 2nd place Varsity girls.  The Varsity Girls team also included Izzy Filapek (11th), Chloe Phelps (15th), Troyce Grant (20th), Chloe Paskins (23rd), Afton Hirschi (29th) and Clarissa Beck (33rd).

The JV Girls team placed 2nd overall, the best finish for this team at this meet.  Lily Eltson's time was 23:33 to earn a 2nd place finish.  Isabel Suero (3rd), Maggie Morgan (18th), Julianna Finelli (19th), Leah Capamaccio (25th) were also members of this team.

Cambridge JV Boys leader Erik Holmen placed 19th with a time of 20:00.  Deacon Law (22nd), Adam Schaich (31st), William Knapp (37th), Grant Oglesby (42nd) all scored on this 5th place team.

Open Boys runner Boston Grant placed 13th, with a time of 20:53.  Brent Hohn (37th), Noah Bouton (11th), David Allan (11th) and Tyler Johnson (11th) also scored on this best finish 4th place team.

The Open Girls team (5th place) was led by Michaela Prevallet (8th).  Lily Parzych (43th), Alyssa Medrano (61st), Kate Tweedy (63rd), and Annabelle Boone (64th) all contributed to the scoring.
