Cambridge Cross Country Leads the Way at Covered Bridge Invitational in Roswell, Sat. Sept. 9th

On September 9th at the Covered Bridge Invitational in Roswell, the Cambridge Bears Cross Country team finished with three team victories and two individual first place finishes.  The Varsity Boys, Varsity Girls and JV boys teams all placed first, an improvement over last year's third, fourth and third place finishes, respectively.

Ashley Sechrest won the Varsity Girls race with a time of 19:56, the first 1st place finish for a Cambridge varsity runner in a major XC meet. Izzy Filapek, Clarissa Beck, Chloe Paskins and Afton Hirschi also scored for Cambridge and each finished in the top 17.

In the Varsity Boys race Jack Filan finished third. Chris Anderson, Anders Law, Mark VanDeWater and Carson Ertwine scored as well and each finished in the top 10.

Kaine Dudley placed first in the JV boys race with a time of 18:44.  The other scorers, all finishing in the top 20, were Adam Schaich, Colin Shin, Kyler Wilson and Grant Oglesby.

For the JV girls Liz Willis, Amanda Leekley, Annika Phelps, Emma Flynn and Madelyn Scandlen all set season best personal records.

The XC Bears race next at the Fulton County Championships this Saturday, September 16th, at Milton High School.

Open girls:  7:45am
Open boys:  8:30am
JV girls:  9:00am
JV boys:  9:45am
V girls:  10:15am
V boys:  10:45am
