Bears Cross Country Competes in Coach Wood Invitational; Varsity Girls Take 2nd Place

The Cambridge Cross Country team traveled to the campus of UNG-Gainesville to take on some of the top competition in the southeast at the 14th annual Coach Wood Invitational, Saturday, October 15th. 

All Bear teams competed well and came home with some hardware to show for all their effort.  Troyce Grant, Clarissa Beck, Chloe Paskins, and Chloe Phelps all finished in the Top 30 of the Girls Varsity Gold race, leading Cambridge to a 2nd place finish and a shiny trophy. 

The Varsity Boys went up against some of the best teams in the state in the Championship race outpacing all 6A teams including rivals Alpharetta and Harrison, with Zach Morgan, KJ Hirschi, Jack Filan and Matt Hogan leading the way. 

The JV boys race saw Tanner LeeMaster, Spencer Keegan, and Chris Anderson notch sub 19 minute races to lead Cambridge to an 8th place finish.

The JV Girls blew past the competition bringing home the 1St place trophy and several medals led by Courtney Bailey, Isabel Suero, Maggie Morgan, Alexis Lay, and Sierra Hyland all in the Top 20. 

Up next for the Cross Country team is Region competition Wednesday, October 26th at Grant Park where both Boys and Girls teams have their sights set on a return to the State Meet in November!
