Letters from the Cambridge Softball Graduating Seniors

Sydney Herbold
:

My summers for the past 7 years have been full of hot days playing in the dirt with some of my best friends. Softball has given me some great friends and has taught me so many things. It has taught me how to work hard for what I want and some things in life aren't just given to you. Playing for Cambridge has allowed me to play with other talented softball players and learn so much from them. I appreciate all of these players and coaches for believing in me and pushing me to play my best. To my seniors—we did it ladies! We have worked so hard these past 4 years and then some. I wish y'all the best of luck as we embark on the next part of our lives. I'll always be cheering for y'all. Thanks for riding it out with me.

:

The past 4 years with Cambridge Softball have been nothing but a blessing. Playing on the field with these girls, my fellow seniors and all my coaches gave me something to look forward to these last few years. Now that my last season has come to an end, I'll cherish every late-night practice, the panting of each sprint, and most importantly the moments I shared with the best friends I get to call teammates. Some of my best high school memories will come from this team and what we have done together as a whole. Thank you Cambridge Softball for not only being a sport I love to play but giving me a lifetime full of lessons. Although I'll miss everyone dearly, I can't wait to come back and watch some of my remaining teammates play some games! I'm very thankful to have spent my feeder seasons and the last 4 years on the Cambridge High School softball field.

:

Softball has always been a part of my life and I could not imagine what I would have done without it. I started playing when I was four and I did not know then, but softball would change my life forever. Through softball I was able to gain so many traits such as teamwork, motivation, and hard work that helped shape me into who I am today. Softball also gave me a chance to gain friendships that will last a life time. The encouragements from my coaches, parents, and friends helped me become a better player, teammate, and person. Cambridge Softball was a huge part of my life bringing me so many friendships, laughter, and memories and I could not imagine spending my time any other way.

Saying goodbye to this team...this family...this group of incredibly talented friends really doesn't quite seem to match the emotion I've been feeling as the season has now passed.  The memories we've created together while playing this incredible game will remain with me forever.  I take something away from each teammate I've ever played with and so, instead of farewell, I'll simply say 'Thank you' to everyone with whom I've had the honor to work, play, laugh, cry and bleed.  To my coaches, thank you for always pushing me and making me want to be better every time I stepped onto the field. Thank you for believing in me even at times when I doubted myself. To my teammates, thank you for welcoming this New York girl and making Georgia feel like home. You welcomed me and made me laugh right from the start. To my family, thank you for everything that you have done for me. Your unconditional support and love throughout the years will forever be cherished. You will never know how appreciative I am for the countless hours of talks, car rides, and pick me ups that you have provided. To the game of softball, thank you for introducing me to friends that will last a lifetime, for memories that I will never forget, for teaching me perseverance, and for feeding my competitive spirit. I grew up on the softball field and I will share my love of this sport with others in years to come.
