Cambridge Boys Golfers Finish 3rd in GHSA State Championship, Monday, May 16th

The 2016 Cambridge High School Boys Golf team finished a very successful campaign by finishing 3rd at the 5-A State Golf Championship at Bartram Trail Golf Club in Augusta, GA, Monday, May 16th.

Sixteen teams competed and the Bears were one of three teams to have all six players score in the 70's. Cambridge shot 298 (+10)... two shots behind 2nd place Lakeside Evans 296 (+8), and 16 shots behind Champion Columbus HS 282 (-6). 

The team was led by Junior Robbie Bentley's 73, Junior Brad Plaziak 74, Freshman Jack Vajda 75, Senior Sutton Dunwoodie 76, Senior Austin Redick 77 and sophomore Andrew Ackerman 78.  

"Winning a state title is very special and rare, and every year our guys put themselves in position to have a chance and that's all you can ask for," said head coach Peter Vajda.

The Bears return a very good core of players next year and will once again be looking towards competing for a state championship.
